A unit price can make differently sized offers easier to read, but it cannot turn a refill into a bottle or a set into a single item. Normalize only after the exact sellable identity is clear.

Convert litres to millilitres or kilograms to grams with an explicit factor. Do not convert between weight and volume without product-specific evidence.
Divide the item price by the labelled quantity and state the basis, such as price per 10 mL. Keep basket-specific delivery and fees outside this unit figure.
Show the actual offer price beside the normalized figure so shoppers can still see the cash amount and pack they would buy.
WHAT NORMALIZATION CANNOT DO
Two offers can share the same price per millilitre and still describe different formulas, applicators, packaging or included accessories. Identity review must happen before the calculation.
A multi-pack may reduce the unit price while increasing the basket spend. A refill may require a compatible container. Those practical differences should remain visible rather than being compressed into one number.
When net contents are missing or conflict across retailer or brand sources, the normalized value should remain unavailable. Guessing the quantity creates a precise-looking but unsupported result.
Record bottle, refill, pouch, set and unit count before comparing quantities.
Do not mix quantity normalization with an unexplained currency conversion.
Use the item price for the unit figure and show basket-specific delivery, tax and fees separately.
Do not infer grams from millilitres, or usable doses from package size.
SHOPPER VIEW
The lower normalized price may require a larger purchase, a different format or a condition the shopper does not want. Ranking should preserve those differences.
A responsible display pairs the exact product identity, total payable amount, quantity basis and timestamp. The normalized value is then one transparent aid among several.
