DEEP DIVE · DELIVERY CONDITIONS
A delivery charge can depend on the destination, basket subtotal, parcel contents, service level and current promotion. Record the condition that produced the charge instead of carrying one result into every basket.
Use the shopping country before reading any shipping banner or checkout estimate.
Check whether the threshold uses merchandise subtotal before or after discounts and whether excluded items apply.
Standard, tracked and express delivery are different routes with different prices and delivery expectations.
Preserve the quantity, subtotal, coupon state and timestamp that produced the observed delivery charge.
COMMON THRESHOLD TRAPS
A low item price may sit below a free-shipping threshold, while a slightly higher item price at another retailer qualifies for lower delivery. The comparison should not rank the item price as if delivery were irrelevant.
Adding unrelated products merely to cross a threshold changes the shopping decision. A comparison should show the cost for the intended basket and may explain the threshold separately without assuming extra purchases.
Promotional shipping can expire, exclude remote areas or apply only to a named carrier. If the retailer page or checkout does not show those conditions, the delivery component remains unresolved.
Keep Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines as separate shipping observations.
State the amount and whether coupons reduce the threshold basis.
Do not silently substitute standard delivery for the shopper's only available option.
Shipping promotions and carrier availability need a current check time.
COMPARISON RULE
Use a destination-specific fee when the retailer page or checkout supports it. Otherwise show that delivery is unknown and keep the checkout total incomplete.
A clear incomplete result is more useful than a falsely exact total because it tells the shopper what must still be checked at checkout.
